Another peculiarity is that hitting the reset button a second time after holding it down to reset the timer, puts the stopwatch into "automatic" mode, which I do not understand, need or use, but which causes the device to behave in a bizarre fashion until you figure out what's happening, once again stop, then reset, the tap the reset button again to take it out of automatic mode. These two things make it annoying to use with some regularity, but it is a robust device and not terribly expensive. It also has the virtue of being one of the few stopwatches that are available at the moment. If you intend to use it in connection with audio recording, note that the device beeps upon pushing the buttons, so you will need to do as I have and get a watch shop to silence the beeps, otherwise it will interfere with recording. It would be wonderful if Timex were to modify the firmware so as to allow turning off the sounds and making the reset instantaneous. This is my first jump rope. I wanted something quality and slightly weighted and this fit the bill. Since I can't compare having not tried other ropes, I can't comment on how it compares to other leather or synthetic ropes. But so far it seems to spin as fast as I need it to and it is definitely giving me a work out as I build conditioning for jump rope. When new, the leather is extremely stiff and bent from packaging, but if you use 100% neatsfoot oil to condition the leather, it will become very supple and a bit heavier and straighten out nicely within an hour or two. Also be sure to store it by hanging it, not wound up.

Negatives to beware of: Any good jump rope needs to be adjustable. This one is a pain in the *ss to adjust (it is not advertised as being adjustable at all), though possible. You have to remove the little spring holding the bearing in place, cut the rope and reposition the metal piece holding the leather behind the bearing. Not a fun procedure and possibly will ruin your rope and/or handles if you're not careful. Secondly, I began to notice that my rope was rubbing on the rim of the wood handle and actually wearing away at one particular spot. I quickly put some electrical tape to protect the area from further wear (I could see the leather wearing through and eventually breaking without this). I just received this product a couple days ago. I was able to buy it on ebay for $30. I wanted something I could use in my dorm room but also something that could work out the entire body. This product is a great workout. You definitely feel achy the day after from working your muscles. This product comes with an exercises chart that lays out a 6 week plan. there are 5 exercises for the first week (working out the chest, biceps, back and legs) and during the 2nd week you add 2 a day until you reach 36 exercises. After 5 weeks there are about 20 or 30 more advanced exercises. The only thing I wasn't sure about was how many reps you are supposed to do. The first couple days I did 10-20 reps each because there are only 5 exercises for the first week. The product is pretty smooth and easy to use. The only problem I had with this product is that a couple of the exercises are very hard to do because the bands are not very long. In the commercial there is a curling type exercise but I am 6'3" and I can't see anyone being able to do this unless you are extremely small. but besides that It seems like a great piece of equipment and very durable. i got this ball in the purple 75 cm. size. i am 5'9" and this is the right size for me. when i opened the box, there was a strong plastic/rubber smell. i figure it will dissipate with time and assume all exercise balls will smell since they
are all rubber. took me less than 5 minutes to inflate and while that was a definite arm workout, it was no big deal. the pump was cheap but nothing to complain about for $20. my ball came with two air plugs. i just did the workout on the dvd. i did not like it. first off this is not an ab only work out which is what i assumed. this is a whole body work out and focuses a lot on leg/butt work. i do my legs at the gym so i don't want/need more legwork. secondly half or more exercise are done on your knees. i have bad knees and cannot kneel without pain. for the last few exercises, i placed a pillow under my knees and in the future will try my exercise mat. but what a pain to have to stop and adjust for the mat. while there were maybe three ab exercise i think will be new and helpful, the arm and leg work i felt was unnecessary for me, who was looking to work abs only. i was sweating my a** off though. time will tell. i don't really recommend this dvd. i do love the ball itself, it's a pretty grape purple and for that i'm glad i got it. i will probably learn the exercises i like and do it on my own. i have also found more helpful exercise ball workouts on youtube. all in all, if you're like me and just want the ball for abs, i say get a ball your size, don't worry about getting a good dvd. you can find exercises to do on the net. if you're looking for a full body work out, this is the dvd ball for you. But I just ordered it last week and received it today and it's now 1/26/2010 (In other words, I'll never get the "free service for first year!") and the battary has run out (I'm not surprised since the battery has run more than four years according to the info provided by the company.)
